22/9/2017 0 Comments Weekly wrap-up #4 (22/9/17)Hello all and welcome to the weekly wrap-up for the week ending 22/9/17! The first week of the university break is over and there is only one more to go. Although not much has happened on here as I hoped, a lot has been happening away from it. This includes a lot of filming and editing for my television journalism as well as planning for the next big assignment, which will be taking up most of my time next week. Nonetheless, this week has been very successful and I have been coming up with some more ideas for content that should start rolling out closer to the end of the year. Next week is going to either be a big week for content or a slow one. Across the seven days, I will be heading out and experiencing the city of Adelaide and trying to prove that there is something to do here. This is part of my professional writing course, which has been focussing on long-form feature writing, specifically travel writing. So to coincide with it there may be some blog posts on here about it. I don't want this blog to start looking like a travel diary or anything, so what I will be posting will focus on the storytelling side of it, either drawing from the stories I hear from the people I'm with or short snippets of creative writing I might be inspired to do. If not, I'll be putting up the review that was meant for this week as well as the update and wrap-up for next week. Now let's get into the wrap-up! Reviews The Fellowship of the Ring by J R R Tolkien was reviewed this week as the first volume of The Lord of the Rings and can be found here. The second volume, The Two Towers, was also meant to be reviewed and posted on Thursday. Unfortunately, everything was pushed forward a day because of studying and watching a cycling stream late on Wednesday night. Do not worry, the review will be out sometime next week, I promise! Blog 'Journalism 101' was posted on Thursday this week and gives an overview on the basics of the profession. It also looks at the importance of telling stories effectively, so if you're interested in telling people the facts while also being able to write or broadcast stories then you should go read it. Maybe you'll be inspired to pursue that career! You can check it out here. Currently reading The Lord of the Rings by J R R Tolkien (and I am SO close to finishing it!). What's next? One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey Achievements of the week Not only has there been two posts this week but I finished an assignment, filmed and edited for three days for three different journalism stories, and I travelled to the beautiful Mount Barker to experience the Carl Jr's there (I might need to do some extra exercising over the next couple of days after that). It's been a busy week and there is one last achievement I hope will be a success by the end of today, and that is the Geelong Cats AFL team winning tonight against the Adelaide Crows... but we shall see. Quotation of the week 'Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art... It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival.' - C S Lewis And that's the weekly wrap-up for this week! Make sure to check out the update next week, and like and follow on social media to keep up to date with the latest news!
